Developing extensions

In the first versions of Sage X3, Sage created the vertical layer to facilitate partner work. This layer offers the ability to deploy simply any development on different customer sites.

The market has changed since. Customers need to install extensions coming from multiple partners, especially legislations. So Sage changed this model.

Sage has defined rules to avoid conflicts when extensions from multiple partners are deployed in the same folders. Add-ons refer to extensions that comply with these rules. Assets are extensions that do not comply with these rules.

The purpose of this guide is to explain the development rules that should be applied in order to facilitate the integration of several development extensions into a single customer folder.

It applies to solutions based on the common technological platform provided by Sage for developing application software.

What’s new

V7 and higher versions offer:

  • Extended codification capabilities

  • New development features

  • New platform features
